Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on January. 19. 1946 into a very poor family with 12 kids eventually included, discovered early that she could get away from her hardships through a imaginative mind. Before she was able to write or read, she had already composed her own songs. At the age of eight, she bought her first electric guitar and started singing at a Knoxville Tenn Radio Station. The same year she released her first record on Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. As a student in high school, she made her name locally but dreamed about a larger stage. After graduating high school in 1964 she moved straight to Nashville. Dumb Blonde was her first single to reach the top of the charts for the first time on Monument Records. The syndicated television show of Porter Wagoner needed an additional singer around the time. Parton was a part of the Grand Ole Opry 1969 after signing to RCA Records. It was not until 1974 that she decided to leave Wagoner's show because the success of her own solo records such as Joshua Coat, Many Colors and Jolene exceeded their collective efforts. Parton composed "I I Will Never Forget You" for Wagoner soon after their split. The song reached number. This was the first time a song reached No.
